We are considering candidates that are based out of either Alameda, CA (Bay Area) or Salt Lake City, UT.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

We are looking for a growth-driven Sales Manager, with experience across athlete-specific channels, to join our Personal Care team. This role will own the recommendation for a sales strategy for our personal care brand to ensure successful brand launch, driving distribution, assortment, and ultimate commercial success. The Sales Manager will oversee the creation and execution of annual sales plans at the channel, customer, and product levels. They are expected to leverage their knowledge of sports retail channels (outdoor/bike/run) across national, regional, and local brick and mortar, ecommerce, and DTC. They are expected to use a working knowledge of direct, brokered and distributor ways of selling to recommend and enact the most effective sales approach. This role will be part of a team of builders, innovators and creators reporting directly to the General Manager of Personal Care. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Own the channel strategy at launch 
    • Ensure that DTC sales work in harmony with other sales channels 
  • Build the annual sales plan including: 
    • Portfolio 4Ps – Product Assortment, Price, Placement, Promotion 
    • Channel Strategy 
    • Customer specific strategy 
    • Sales forecasting 
    • Trade spend budgeting and forecasting 
  • Deliver sales objectives as defined by the annual plan 
    • Distribution 
    • Revenue
    • Trade Spend 
    • Gross Margin/Gross Profit 
  • Establish and maintain GTM strategy for Sales considering these and other potential tactics:
    • Direct, Distributor, Brokers 
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure that marketing programs support sales objectives and are executed with excellence. 
  • Lead trade marketing strategy considering: 
    • Trade Events 
    • Employee Outreach 
    • Promotional SWAG 
    • Maintain and Track annual sales budget 
    • Create and Update annual sales promotion calendar

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

  • 5-7 years of work history in the outdoor/ski/bike/run industries in a sales role; direct Personal Care or similar category experience a plus 
  • Strong understanding of the outdoor industry, market and lifestyle 
  • Strong understanding of mountain sports including trail running, mountain biking, gravel biking, backcountry skiing and snowboarding 
  • Ability to be active in at least a few of the above mentioned activities 
  • Sales experience including direct, broker/independent reps, and distributor sales
  • Channel experience across brick and mortar, ecommerce retailers, and DTC sales
  • Experience with retailers of various sizes and geographies
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time

At Checkerspot, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 – $160,000 and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
