PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a full-time researcher to conduct research experiments and manage general lab and other company operationCheckerspot is looking for a motivated, organized and detail-oriented Research Associate to conduct research experiments and maintain general lab operations for the Technology team. Duties are expected to be allocated as follows:  Lab Research and Management of Lab (70%) : Lab Operational (10%) : Other Company Operations (20%). Key responsibilities include:

Lab Research and Management of Lab, such as:

  • Managing and performing in-house assays as needed
  • Writing, presenting and delivering research updates and reports as needed
  • Conducting and executing on research experiments
  • Media prep and maintenance of stocks
  • Autoclaving and labware prep and washing
  • Conduct routine PMCS on lab equipment
  • Managing inventory and lab consumables
  • Managing chemical and biological waste disposal
  • Driving culture of safety and maintaining an orderly lab

Manage Lab Operations such as:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Assistance in general lab operational needs

Managing other Company operations, such as:

  • Create and manage Technology purchase orders and invoice processes
  • Ensure Technology purchases and processes adhere to Company purchasing policy
  • Ensure that data entry into various company accounting software programs is accurate and timely  (e.g., Quickbooks and Expensify)

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, or related discipline
  • Wet lab experience is preferred
  • Comfortable working independently as well as in team settings
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in a fast paced environment
  • Detail oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting expected deadlines
  • Highly motivated and possessing an excellent work ethic with a can-do attitude and sincere enthusiasm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products and Google platform
  • Demonstrated ability around creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, mission oriented environment, with multiple competing priorities
